Scott introduces the Addict eRide high-performance electric road bike
The Scott Addict RC is considered one of the best road bikes available today. It has been hailed for its ability to perfectly combine performance and comfort. Due to its carbon structure, it is also extremely light. Its new electric version, with a total weight of just 10.7 kilograms, combined with Mahle’s integrated X20 system, advertised as the lightest power unit on the market, is equally attractive.
The new Scott Addict eRide has been designed to look as much like a standard road bike as possible, so you might not notice it’s electric at first glance. According to Scott, the two-wheeler has the lightest electric road bike frame on the market, weighing just 1.04 kilograms. It’s also the first e-road bike with no visible mechanical electrical wires and cables, or visible bolts and fixings, resulting in an incredibly clean and uncluttered look.
The eRide has the same Syncros Creston iCombo handlebar as the Addict RC, allowing for internal cable routing for either mechanical or electric drivetrains. There are five different versions to choose from, all of which have Syncros branded cockpit components. In Europe, Mahle’s X20 technology helps you stay within the legal speed limit of 15.5 miles per hour specific to European e-bike regulations. In the United States, however, you can go up to 20 miles per hour.
The Mahle X20 electric drive system weighs only 3.2 kilograms and is barely noticeable. It has a 55Nm rear hub motor, a small head unit with Bluetooth functionality with 3D accelerometer and a 236Wh battery, which you can upgrade to a 350Wh battery for even more range. , to the detriment. You can also buy a 208 Wh range extender, which looks discreetly like a water bottle, to use as a backup battery. Scott’s new Addict eRide road bike starts at US$6,770 and can go up to US$11,270 for the eRide Ultimate.
