December 21, 2021 | Madison, WI – SARIS and ROUVY are proud to announce a new partnership to become the title sponsors of the UCI continental racing team, formerly known as Team SKS Sauerland NRW. The team will now be called the SARIS ROUVY Sauerland team. Founded in 2016, the team’s mission is to provide talented young athletes with an environment where they can learn and develop skills that will help them reach the pro level. The aim will be to give cyclists between the ages of 18 and 23, who previously had little or no access, a path to professional cycling. Saris’ mission is to break down barriers to make cycling more inclusive. The SARIS ROUVY Sauerland team will have the opportunity to break down their own barriers as they move towards the professional circuit.
“The team’s aim is to achieve respectable successes in international races in the coming year, to qualify again for the Deutschland Tour and to defend the title of German Time Trial Champion. team, as well as the leader of the German National Cycling League,” said Heiko Volkert, Managing Director of the team. “We are also trying to move from the Continental Team category to the Pro Team category. For we take a different sustainable approach to this. We have just completed building our new service path as an investment. We also want to achieve sustainable growth with our new and existing sponsors. The quality of our roster has clearly improved and will become even more international with our new partners SARIS and ROUVY. “
At the end of January of each season, roster selection will be done in part via online races, giving more riders the opportunity to participate. Qualification will take place via a series of 4-part online races on ROUVY, with the final selection taking place during the in-person team camp in March in Girona (Spain).

Currently, the SARIS ROUVY Sauerland team is looking to fill two positions. In addition to the expertise of SARIS, ROUVY and the current management of the Sauerland team, the other members of the jury will include former professional cyclist and sports director of the Deutschland Tour, Fabian Wegmann.
