If you want to add a little extra propulsive power to your bike and turn a standard bike into an electric bike, you might be interested to know that this month Velogical unveiled its latest Velogical Velospeeder friction drive which is now even smaller and lighter. than previous prototypes.
The compact Velogical e-drive solution weighs less than 4 lbs and can be easily fitted to any bike, allowing the rider to quickly switch between extra propulsion during those tough climbs or when their legs get tired.
Velogical specializes in creating dynamos to power bike lights and has used this technology to create a new Velospeeder capable of delivering up to 600 watts of power and 29.5 lb-ft (40 Nm) of torque, while still adding only 3.5 extra lbs to the weight of your bike. Watch the video below to see the new Velogical Velospeeder in action.
The Velogical Velospeeder is equipped with a 92 Wh lithium polymer battery capable of delivering up to 12 miles or 20 km of pedal power and the battery is small enough that riders can carry additional spare parts if needed to help them through these long journeys.
Unfortunately, the Velogical Velospeeder is currently still in the prototype development stage and no pricing or global availability information has yet been released by Velogical, but as soon as information becomes available we will keep you updated as always.
