Inaugural Philly Bike Ride set to run through Philadelphia


PHILADELPHIA CREAM, May 5, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — American Bike Ride, in partnership with the Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphiaannounced the first Philly Bike Ride, scheduled for the Saturday, October 15, 2022. Riders will have the unique opportunity to ride through Philadelphia’s neighborhoods, famous landmarks, and scenic skyline views on a closed-road, non-competitive bike ride. Registration is open to the general public on Monday May 9 to 10 a.m. EST to

Philly Bike Ride invites riders of all ages to listen to music, sample local flavors and capture memorable photos as they pedal past historic sites in DowntownIndependence Hall, Penns Landing, Kelly Drive, and discover neighborhoods such as Manayunk. Participants can choose between a 20-mile course or a shorter 6-mile version, with start and finish lines near the iconic setting of the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the shadow of the famous Rocky Steps. The event concludes with a post-ride festival, free and open to the public, which will feature live music, entertainment, food trucks and family activities.

Hoping to become one of the largest destination cycling events on the East Coast, the inaugural 2022 edition is expected to attract 5,000 participants from all states of Philadelphia and the Mid-Atlantic and is expected to grow in the years to come as the popularity, accessibility and diversity of ridings continues to increase in the region.

The event organizers are also delighted to announce a founding partnership with the Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia (BCGP) through which a portion of the proceeds from the event will support the Bicycle Coalition Youth Cycling program. 2022 dots the 50and BCGP’s anniversary and Philly Bike Ride will be a great celebration of their work and legacy in promoting cycling through outreach and education. Early bird registration for Philly Bike Ride is available at Monday May 9 by May 24for $58. Children from 3 to 7 years old are free and young people from 8 to 17 years old are always half price.

Registration includes a 2022 Philly Bike Ride water bottle, access to the 20-mile car-free course, and a rider ID kit. VIP packages and group rates are also available.
