Honda S2000-powered BMW 3 Series E30 arrives at SEMA
Eneos is Japan’s largest oil company, and for this year’s SEMA show it is offering a BMW 3 Series E30 with an engine swap for a Honda S2000. The company also has a Honda Acty pickup with a matching bike in the rear.
This E30 belongs to Formula Drift Pro class driver Faruk Kugay. It started with a 1985 BMW 318i and abandoned the original four-cylinder engine in favor of a Honda F20C mill from an S2000 developing 240 horsepower (179 kilowatts). He built it as a way to have something comparable to an E30 generation M3, but probably at a much lower cost.
There are also a few additional mods. The engine breathes through an AEM intake and Borla stainless steel cat-back exhaust. There is also a custom wiring harness and a retracted radiator to run the 2000s Honda powertrain in the 1980s BMW. The mill goes through the S2000’s six-speed gearbox and there is a differential. limited slip at the rear. This configuration remains CARB legal.
The car wears a Pandem V1.5 widebody kit with an E30 M3 Evo 2 rear spoiler and carbon fiber roof panel. The extra width allows for the mounting of 17-inch 9.5-inch-wide Rotiform wheels in the front and 11-inch wide in the rear. The suspension uses KW Variant 3 coilovers and the brakes come from an E36 M3. There is also a reinforced body with an internal four-point roll bar.
The other Honda-powered machine that Eneos has a SEMA for is a small Acty kei truck (above) owned by Neil Tjin of Tjin Edition. The small pickup has a sporty look with a new front bumper, fender wideners, a spoiler in the rear of the cabin and a larger metal spoiler on the tailgate. All lighting now uses LEDs.
The body receives a custom Seafoam green color and 13-inch wheels painted yellow. Inside there are sports seats with yellow upholstery.
To match the Honda, there is a custom Super73-ZX electric bike. It has a Seafoam green frame and yellow parts for the wheels and seats.
