Fat-Tire TerraVelo wants to be the ideal electric bike, comes with a competitive battery
Disappointed with the current options on the market and aimed at creating the ideal e-bike, this guy teamed up with a Chinese factory to build TerraVelo, a solid choice for off-road and urban rides, offering impressive range and battery life. long duration. .
His name is Alex Gradea and he comes from Romania, but the TerraVelo was developed with help from the Far East. In a nutshell, the goal was to create an electric bike with a more solid setup than most options on the market today, as many of them are either poorly built or leave room for improvement, especially in battery terms.
The bike tries to tick all the important boxes that manufacturers need to consider when building an electric bike. TerraVelo is foldable, equipped with large tires that make it stable and suitable for virtually any terrain, includes 7-speed gearing, full front and rear suspension and hydraulic brakes. It also includes a rear luggage rack. Nothing abnormal yet.
But when it comes to the battery powering this two-wheeler, the TerraVelo has a 14,000mAh one with original LG cells, which the manufacturer claims have an improved lifespan, twice as long as batteries. ordinary. As for the claimed range, the e-bike offers up to 150 km (93 miles) with a charge with pedal assist and up to 95 km (around 60 miles) with the accelerator only.
Switching to the TerraVelo motor, the e-bike contains a 500W rear wheel motor (a 250W option is also available) and offers a limited top speed of 25 km / h (15.5 mph). Without limit, the rider can go up to 45 km / h (28 mph).
In testing for six months, the TerraVelo is now ready for production and is seeking funding for Indiegogo. You can get one for a starting price of around $ 1,040 (€ 920), with deliveries scheduled to begin in March.
