Royal Taste of Jamaica targets Christina’s downtown spot

Royal Taste of Jamaica plans to move to former Christina’s restaurant in Beauregard Town, according to Daily report.

The restaurant opened inside the Millennial Park shipping container entertainment complex in March 2020. There aren’t many other places in Baton Rouge where you can enjoy authentic Jamaican food like shrimp. bold curry, tender oxtail, spicy jerk chicken, and flavorful curried goat cheese all in one place, and owners David and Miya Suarez say their food has grown into a loyal following ever since.

Christina’s closed last June due to struggles for the Juban restaurant group during the pandemic. The restaurant was finally put up for sale.


Bike shop soon available at Goodwood Village

Bike store moves to Goodwood Village shopping center on Jefferson Highway, according to Daily report.

The store is on the verge of occupying the vacant space that once housed Mid City Craft Wine and Brew, which closed a year ago. While Daily report was unable to obtain more information about the business, the tenant will “retail and service bikes” on the 1,610 square foot space, according to the permit.
