2022 Triumph Tiger 1200 is the new bike in town

The 2022 Triumph Tiger 1200 was launched in India with prices starting at ₹19.19 lakh. Four variants are offered, the most affordable being the GT Pro. We also get the Rally Pro (₹20.19 lakh), along with two versions with more features and larger 30-liter fuel tanks – the GT Explorer (₹20.69 lakh) and the Rally Explorer (₹21 .69 lakh).

The GT trims are the more street-oriented variants that roll on alloy wheels, while the Rally variants are more off-road ready and come with wire-spoke wheels.

The 2022 Tiger 1200s are all-new motorcycles, including their platform, engine, and frame. The engine in question is a 1160cc inline triple with a T-crankshaft, and although it shares many of its numbers with the Speed Triple 1200 engine, Triumph says it is from a completely different engine. Power figures stand at 150hp and 130Nm, making the new Tiger well equipped to take on the competition.

The focus has been on weight loss: the new frame is 5.5 kg lighter than before, the double-sided swingarm loses 1.5 kg compared to the single-sided design of the predecessor, and this new Tiger receives aluminum fuel tanks. The end result is that the updated bike is over 25kg lighter than its predecessor.

The 2022 Tiger 1200 is packed with technology and even comes with headline-grabbing features like a radar system that facilitates a blind spot and lane change warning system. The Tiger’s portfolio is extensive, with tilt-sensitive cornering lights, a Bluetooth-equipped 7-inch TFT screen, electronic suspension, up to six riding modes, a quick up/down shifter, a hill stop, cruise control, heated grips and keyless operation. And if that wasn’t enough, the Explorer variants even get a tire pressure monitoring system and heated driver and passenger seats.
